How to use Tox to increase collagen

"For the duration of temporary chemodenervation, the skin has a “rest period” during which the patient's own collagen remodels the dermis that had been affected by dynamic muscle influence." Olson. Seminars in Plastic Surgery

That's right - your skin gets a beauty sleep when the muscles relax for a little. Back to back tox treatments give your skin a chance to build from within, using its innate system of repair. Beauty creams cannot acheive this, and I am dubious about the 'trauma-repair' hypothesis of some skin rejuvenation. Tell the muscles to quit tugging. and skin gets a break to rest and repair. Makes sense huh?! Just think about when you have had a rest period or a holiday, and you seem to appear more radiant and less wrinkled. Perhaps this period of less facial muscle activity has helped your skin to repair.

I recommend to patients that they space their tox treatments by three months in order to achieve collagen stimulation in the skin. I usually notice this occurring after 12-15 months of regular treatments. A key area where this works well is in the frown lines. If there is a frown line at rest, without activation of the muscle, then consistent tox treatments for about a year will greatly improve these static lines. My patients tell me that their tox seems to work better with time. I can tell you that this isn’t the tox working better, it’s the result of collagen stimulation having undergone consistent treatments. The principle of ‘persistent denervation’ is one of the lesser known and best effects of tox injection.
