What is Jawline Slimming?

Jawline slimming injections are good for two things.

1. Stops grinding of teeth and therefore protects your teeth from damage, as well as relieving the other sequelae of jaw grinding such as headaches, ear pain and neck stiffness. 

2. Creates a more beautiful facial shape by decreasing the bigonial width, which is the distance between the jaw angles, in a frontal view. Ideally in a female patient the bigonial width is more narrow than the cheekbones. In males, we like to see the same width of the jaw as in the cheekbones. Therefore, your facial frame may be sculpted to a more ideal contour. 

Injections of muscle relaxant are used in a customised dose in order to provide you with both symptom control where there is bruxism and an aesthetic benefit of a slimmed jawline. Importantly, as we get older, we do need the facial support of our jawline and so jawline slimming may not be appropriate if you are starting to experience facial sag, such as marionette lines or jowls.
